Intro to Silversmithing

Always wanted to make jewelry, but didn't know where to start? Want to up your game but are afraid of the torch? This is the class for you! This class will take the mystery out of silversmithing and get you started making jewelry.

In this class you will learn all about silver soldering. We will discuss flux, pickle, solders, torches, and the 5 points of soldering. In this "technique" class, you will solder a butt joint and a 'T' joint. Learn how to pick a cabochon and how

to set it, as well as some texturing and finishing techniques.

This class will remove the mystery of silver soldering and allow you to broaden your jewelry making skills. All tools and equipment will be supplied. Students are encouraged to bring whatever tools they have. Instructor will have additional cabochons for sale at this class.

* Kit contents include:

1" x 1 1/2" - 26 gauge sterling silver sheet ; 6" - 1/8" fine silver bezel wire;

1 cabochon; 6" - 16 gauge sterling silver square wire; 1 jump ring 18 gauge

Intermediate/beginning skill level

A class using small format paint surfaces, limited brushes and palette to encourage more spontaneity and freshness to your painting practice. Painting often, small and using simple subjects takes you out of your comfort zone while improving your skills and your inspiration. Three class sessions. Three hour classes. Three paintings. This class is best suited for intermediate beginners who have basic knowledge of paint/color mixing and who are familiar with basic acrylic painting supplies. Please arrive to set-up and be ready to paint by 11am.

Wednesday’s, June 2nd, 9th & 16th, 11am-2pm(bring a lunch snack)

Students bring their own supplies, supply list provided. Call for details.

This is a really fun class! You will learn how to infuse pure gold to fine silver, creating beautiful jewelry. The only restriction is your imagination!

You'll learn proper Keum Boo techniques, roller printing, a simple way to make ear wires, using silver liver of sulfur gel, and brass brush finishing.
